The Wetherby Cricket League Grounds Association in 2008 is now entering its seventh year of existence, and has proved to be a valuable and supportive Association for many Member Clubs.
Once again as in previous seasons our President/Consultant Keith Boyce has been busy in the last year visiting several Clubs and advising many others on Ground matters. We are lucky to have such an enthusiastic and professional person working on our Clubs behalf; I take this opportunity to thank Keith for all he does for our League. At our annual dinner held at The White Horse Church Fenton in February this year we presented Keith with an award to celebrate his 50 years as a Groundsman. The annual dinner attracted an increasing number of groundsmen and supporters of our association and was, as usual a very pleasant evening that all should attempt to attend in 2008.
Andy Fothergill of Walton was awarded the trophy for the most improved ground in 2007 and he received his award from President Keith Boyce.
The Spring Seminar/Get-together this year was held on Sunday 23th March at Walton Cricket Club when our guest was Dave Hodgson of the Institute of Groundsmen. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Walton Club for their hospitality in hosting our Spring Seminar/Get-together this year.
I would also like to thank Joanne Whitelock for her work as Secretary and Co-Editor of The Grounds Association Newsletter.
The Grounds Association once again wishes everyone involved in The Wetherby Cricket League a good 2008 Season, hopefully in kind weather, good Cricket matches, and playing surfaces.
Chris Horbury
Chairman.
